As an incorporated association, NUSA needs to hold an annual general meeting (AGM) each year. Our constitution stipulates that at least 100 students must attend for quorum to be reached.
At the AGM, the financial statements are presented and the meeting agrees on the organisation’s accountants and honorary solicitors.
Due to the problems last year, this AGM is very late. The financial statements for 2010 could not be presented last year due to those problems. This AGM should mark the end of the problems that arose in 2011 with the discovery of the “not lodged” constitution.
This means that those on NUSA Council next year should be in a situation free from the legal concerns that 2011 brought and can just get on with representing and advocating for students!
Please attend the AGM if you can, it is really important. In addition to financial statements and what not, the AGM offers an opportunity for students to make decisions about NUSA policy and plans for the future. This can assist those elected to roles by giving them direction in their individual portfolios.
