WEEKEND AND OFF-CAMPUS EXAMS SURVEY

During semester one students studying at the University of Newcastle found that they had to take exams on Saturdays and in off-campus venues.

This was a source of concern for many students. Saturday exams were problematic for students who worked, who were reliant on public transport or who had family commitments. Off-campus exams were taken at venues including the Newcastle Jockey Club (NJC) which was very problematic for some students as the public transport links are inadequate.

There were several students who had a morning exam at the Newcastle Jockey Club and then an afternoon exam at the University. It was not ohysically possible for these students to travel via public transport from the first examination at the NJC to the University. As such, we requested the University find alternative arrangements and those students affected, who had contacted us, were able to sit the second exam at the NJC.

The above image links to an online survey which we have created. The intention is to gain data on students' experiences of sitting examinations in semester one at weekends and at off-campus venues.

This survey is anonymous. Please take the time to fill it in, every answer is valuable. We will update this page with feedback from the survey on a regular basis.
