FREE NOTEPADS

Anyone who has been into the Hunter Building may have seen a pile of notepads that look something like this:

How does this work?

Well, we collect the printer coversheets from the Huxley Library, Hunter Hub, Auchmuty Library and AIC where possible. We then sort these, removing any assignments, sheets printed on both sides and even sometimes some very personal documents, like divorce papers.

The remaining sheets are sorted so that all blank sheets face the same way. Coversheets are then inserted every 20 pages or so and then all the paper is clamped and one end glued. The gluing process takes about 24hours because three layers are needed.

There is a small group of students who have taken on production of the recycled notepads this year. We make on average 200 notepads a week which we normally distribute in the Hunter Building.

NUSA has always provided this service but it really took off this year. For example, we have used an equivalent amount of glue in 20 weeks as was used in 4 years previously!

Thanks to all those who help with this service, in particular: Jarrah Peddie, Julian Kirkby, Jordon Davidson, Chris Townsend and Georgie Catchpole.
